What is Reiki?

At The Calm Collective, we believe in creating moments of calm, balance, and restoration—and Reiki is one of the most gentle yet powerful ways to achieve that.

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese technique for relaxation and stress reduction that also promotes healing. It works with the body’s natural energy systems, helping to release tension, restore balance, and support overall wellbeing. While its roots are spiritual, Reiki is not a religion or belief system—you don’t have to be spiritual or follow any particular practice to benefit from it.

During a Reiki session, you’ll simply relax—fully clothed—while one of our trained practitioners places their hands lightly on or just above the body. Through this gentle, non-invasive touch, the body’s energy is encouraged to flow freely, helping to clear emotional blockages and physical tension. Many people describe the experience as deeply calming, restorative, and sometimes even transformational.

How We Incorporate Reiki into Our Sessions
We usually offer Reiki at the start of our sound healing sessions to help you settle and prepare for deep relaxation. This short energy balancing helps calm the mind and open the body to fully receive the benefits of the sound journey. However, Reiki is always optional, and you’ll be asked at the beginning of the session if you’d like to receive it. If you prefer not to, you can simply enjoy the restorative sound journey on its own.
